Music has always been a bridge to the spirit, connecting hearts through rhythm and melody.
“Jazz of the Soul” is a celebration of jazz, soul, and gospel music—a live concert experience that shines a light on the joyful, uplifting side of these timeless American sounds. This show reaches the part in all of us that seeks something bright, something truly positive.
The performance features classic songs that inspire love and unity, including “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong, “Beauty in the World” by Macy Gray, “Grandma’s Hands” by Bill Withers, “Our Love Is Here to Stay” by Ella Fitzgerald, and “Accentuate the Positive” by Johnny Mercer—along with audience favorites and special requests.
“Jazz of the Soul” also reimagines beloved church hymns in a jazz framework – songs like “This is My Father’s World” and “Let Us Break Bread Together,” blending church music with soulful R&B and jazz that creates true feel-good music.
Led by acclaimed vocalist Gwen Hughes, “Jazz of the Soul” is more than a concert—it’s a musical bridge of faith, joy, and connection. “I’d love to have you sing along,” says Gwen. “We shine brighter together.”

Gwen Hughes is a Magic Performer in part because she connects the spirit to earthy music you can feel. We were so glad to have her and her fans in our space. We had a packed event full of great people and look forward to her next performance with us.
Throughout human history, music has helped us mourn, to feel righteous anger, to love, to contemplate beauty, and to feel joy. Gwen put together a program to specifically take us on a joyful journey, drawing especially from jazz and soul music.
